UK Dairy Day Announces Cattle Show Judges

A showcase of the very best breeding cattle and breeders; UK Dairy Day is delighted to bring you the Cattle Show on Wednesday 16th September. Located within the main ring at UK Dairy Day at the International Centre Telford, the Cattle Show will feature classes for Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorn, Guernsey, Jersey and the National Holstein Show.

To complement the high standard of cattle, this year the UK Dairy Day team can unveil an esteemed panel of highly respected judges. Making the big decisions this year will be judges Nico Bons, John Suffern and Mark Logan.

Mark will be teaming up with John to judge the Coloured Breeds at the Cattle Show – including twelve coloured classes and four championship classes. Nico Bons will be the lead judge on the Holstein Breeds which will consist of eight Holstein classes, four championship classes and group of four. Mark, John and Nico have a remarkable repertoire of international judging experience between them, having travelled across the globe to professionally judge British and continental breeds at prestigious showing events.

Carl Smith, UK Dairy Day show director, comments; “The Cattle Show at UK Dairy Day was a hugely popular feature at last year’s inaugural event and a real display of the cream of the crop in the dairy world! This year we are extremely fortunate to have a wealth of expertise in our judging panel.”

“The Cattle Show presents an excellent opportunity for breeders to show their cattle in a professional and competitive environment – with the hope of achieving a respected accolade at the end of the day! As an event dedicated to the dairy sector, the Cattle Show at UK Dairy Day is the obvious choice for breeders wanting to show their cattle to a targeted audience of dairy farmers, all of whom share a genuine passion and interest in high performing cattle. Last year’s calibre of entries was outstanding; it was a true reflection of the high standard of dairy cattle that we have in the UK and we are very excited to see what competitors have to show at our 2015 event.”

A new feature for UK Dairy Day 2015, to follow on after the cattle show, will be a Red Ribbon Sale, a joint venture with livestock auctioneers Harrison & Hetherington. The sale will take place in the main ring from 4.30pm on Wednesday 16th September 2015. This new Ribbon Sale will feature the best dairy animals of any breed, hand-picked, and specially selected by Glyn Lucas, Senior Dairy Auctioneer at Harrison & Hetherington.
