Learn the anatomy of a cow through art, quench your thirst with a freshly made milk cocktail and listen to a jam packed schedule of topical seminars; UK Dairy Day is just around the corner and it is set to offer a day of dairy innovation and excitement.

Seminar Schedule Confirmed

UK Dairy Day is thrilled to confirm a diversity of seminar topics focusing on the cow, team and farm. From calf rearing, BVD eradication, fertility, management and margins, feed efficiency to anaerobic digestion and renewable energies; visit zones 1 and 2 in the Learning and Development Zone for engaging and insightful discussion. There will be 15 seminars taking place throughout the day between 9am and 4.30pm. As well as seminars, this area of innovation will include the new ‘Making the Most from Milk Zone’, displays from agricultural colleges and charities, and feature a careers board and CV clinic.

In addition, throughout the day visitors can learn from the professionals with live foot trimming and knife sharpening demonstrations with Tim Carter and David Rowe in the External Demonstration Area.

A Milk Mojito Anyone..?

Milk isn’t just for stirring into tea and pouring over your cornflakes! Oh no, there are far more uses – and for the first time, the ‘milk cocktail bar’ will be making an appearance at UK Dairy Day. This is a special feature in the Concourse area showcasing the amazing cocktails that you can make from milk – and not just non-alcoholic! A few of the recipes will include alcohol and a mixologist will be on hand to demonstrate the very best milk cocktails.

Beneath the Black and White Cow

Once you’ve quenched your thirst with a milk cocktail, visit Hall 3 for an unusual presentation by Scarsdale Vets. The ‘Beneath the Black and White Cow’ seminar will be a visual depiction of the cows’ anatomy using paint. Carolyn Baguley, Senior Farm Assistant at Scarsdale Vets will focus on the musculoskeletal/ nervous system and internal organs to assist the understanding of cow health and welfare. Throughout the day Carolyn will be explaining why muscles and nerves get damaged so easily in downer cows, where an LDA displaces from and to, why eating a wire can cause heart disease, and much more!
